Mission
Cognitive Science Online, an online journal published by the UCSD Cognitive Science
Department, seeks to provide a medium for graduate students, faculty and other
members of the cognitive science community in which to exchange ideas,
theories, information, advice and current research findings. This online
publication is a student-run, peer-reviewed and highly interdisciplinary academic
journal seeking contributions from all disciplines comprised by Cognitive Science,
including Anthropology, Communication, Philosophy, Linguistics, Neuroscience,
Psychology, Computer Science and Sociology, as well as any other
interdisciplinary programs focused on investigating the mind, cognition and their
manifestation in living, and possibly artificial, systems.
Cognitive Science Online is a quarterly publication which emphasizes the publication of empirical
and theoretical papers written by graduate students, as well as an exchange and
dissemination of information benefiting all members of the global cognitive
science community. The editorial staff is responsible for providing the readers of
this journal with the highest quality of peer-reviewed scholarly papers as well as
information valuable to researchers and theorists within the interdisciplinary field
of cognitive science. Each issue will contain, in addition to scholarly research
findings and theoretical papers, tutorials and overviews of important techniques
and methods of empirical investigation, advice from faculty, editorial/opinion
pieces about relevant current issues in the field, interviews with eminent
scholars, and insightful commentary on various aspects of cognitive science
expressed in the form of humorous satire and creative fiction.
